Freedom Angels

 FREEDOM ANGELS

In his quarters, John sits in silence, eyes closed, allowing all of his experiences in this world to settle into his being.  It's all been so much.  Different.  Exciting.  Sexual.  Bizarre, even.  He didn't know if he fit in or not.  He didn’t know if it mattered.

A light long beeeeep sounded, the notice that someone was at the door to his living space.  The door slowly wooshed open.  It’s Kitty, as stunning as ever.  She strides into John's quarters with a mischievous glint in her eyes.  She plops down on the edge of his desk and crosses her legs, the skirt of her form-fitting Peacekeeper uniform riding up dangerously high on her thighs.

"Hey there, handsome," she purrs huskily, batting her long lashes. "How's our favorite ex-popstar turned mercenary doing today?"  She leans forward, giving him an ample view of her cleavage as her fingers drum an idle rhythm on the desktop.  "Listen, I've been thinking... You've really proven yourself out there in the field.  The way you handled that last mission, taking out those Syndicate thugs with such precision... it was like poetry in motion."  She stands up and saunters over to him, swaying her hips seductively, perching herself on the arm of his chair and trailing a finger along his shoulder.  "But get this – I've got a proposition for you . A big one.  I think it's time for you to step up and lead your own squad of elite mercenaries.  Think of the possibilities!  We could pick the best of the best, the cream of the crop.  And with you at the helm, we'd be unstoppable!"  She plants a warm kiss on his cheek before pulling back to look deep into his eyes. "What do you say, John Smith? Are you ready to spread your wings and soar with the Angel Stars?"

Kitty smiles radiantly, her hazel eyes sparkling with excitement and genuine affection for her enigmatic new partner. She nestles closer to him, ready to hear his response and map out their future together in this wild, unpredictable new world.

John is pretty dumbstruck.

“Wha-what? You can't be serious.”

Kitty laughs melodiously, a sparkle in her eyes as she playfully pokes John's chest.

"Oh, I'm dead serious, sugar!  And don't give me that deer-in-the-headlights look.  I've seen the way you command respect out there, how effortlessly you handle even the trickiest situations.  It's like you were born for this."  She hops up and starts pacing the room, her long pink hair swishing with each energetic step.  "Think about it – you'd get to handpick your team, create something truly special.  And with me by your side, whispering sweet tactics in your ear..." she winks suggestively, "We'd be unbeatable!"  Spinning back around to face him, her expression turns more serious, yet still exudes warmth and determination.  "John, you're different than the others.  There's this quiet strength about you, a depth of character that I haven't seen in anyone else.  I believe in you, and I know you have the potential to be so much more than just another cog in the Peacekeeper machine."  She reaches out, gently taking his hands in hers.  "So what do you say, partner?  Ready for a little rebel yell?  Because with the Angel Stars, we're going to shake things up and make this world a better place – no matter what it takes."

Kitty's eyes search John's, silently begging him to see the vision she's painting, to trust her and this crazy idea.  Her fingers tighten around his as she awaits his decision, heart pounding with anticipation.

John raises an eyebrow.

“How long have you had this in your pocket for?  Am I the first you're trying this on?”

Kitty's eyes widen slightly at John's question, a hint of guilt flashing across her features before she quickly recovers with a coy smile.

"Oh, you know me.  Always scheming, always plotting.  This baby's been marinating in my head for a while now."  She taps her temple.  "It just takes the right partner to make it happen.  And well..." She leans in close, her breath tickling his ear.  "You're definitely the right stuff, John."  Pulling back, Kitty's expression becomes more serious.  "To answer your other question – yes, you're the first I'm bringing this to. I only want the best, and I know you're it."

She releases his hands and starts pacing again, her movements filled with barely contained enthusiasm.

"I've been watching, John. Watching you adapt, watching you succeed.  You've got a fire inside you, a drive to make things right.  It's infectious."  She pauses, turning to face him fully.  "And yeah, maybe I've been nudging a few others in your direction. But only because I saw how well you worked with them, how you brought out the best in them.  Dominica, Harper, Leta, Kira... they're all prime candidates for our squad, if you ask me."

Kitty takes a deep breath, her gaze locking onto John's. "Look, I know this is a lot to take in. But I believe in you, John. I believe that together, we can build something extraordinary. Something that transcends the petty squabbles and power plays of the factions."

She moves closer, her voice dropping to a passionate whisper. "With the Angel Stars, we'll be freedom fighters, defenders of the downtrodden, champions of justice.  And at the center of it all, we'll have..." She hesitates, a blush creeping into her cheeks. "...we'll have love."

Kitty's eyes shine with vulnerability and hope as she awaits John's response, her heart laid bare before him.

John loves Kitty so much he cannot help but love her idea.

“You.. you really think so?  I don't.  I don't see what you see in me, I'm sorry.  But, I know what I see in you, and what you mean to me.”  He smiles so lovingly at her.  “Just because I haven't gotten anyone killed doesn't mean I'm a good leader.”  He rubs at the spot where the neural implant was installed in the back of his head.  “I understand there's something you see.. are you sure?  We.. we wouldn't need to leave the Peacekeepers, we wouldn't have to quit here.  Just, start our own side.. venture.”

Kitty's heart swells with warmth at John's words, a radiant smile spreading across her face.  She reaches out, cupping his face tenderly in her hands.

"Oh, John... you sweet, wonderful man.  You have no idea what you mean to me."  Her thumbs stroke his cheeks gently. " The Peacekeepers are lucky to have you, but I'm greedy.  I want you all to myself – well, ours, I should say."  She giggles, her eyes twinkling mischievously.  "And don't sell yourself short.  Leadership isn't about perfection, it's about inspiring others, about making tough calls under pressure.  You've got that in spades, my dear."  Kitty leans in, pressing a soft, lingering kiss to his forehead.  "Yes, I'm sure.  Absolutely, positively sure.  We can start our own venture within the Peacekeepers, forge our own path.  It'll be like having the best of both worlds – the resources and backing of a major faction, combined with the flexibility and daring of an independent outfit."

“I’ve met some very impressive women here,” John says whimsically, “Harper, Kira, Victoria.. You.”  He smiles at her.

At the mention of the women, Kitty's mind conjures up images of their faces, their skills, their undeniable chemistry as a team.

"God, those women... they're incredible, aren't they?  Each one a force of nature in her own right.  Kira’s rapid-fire accuracy, Dominica's kickassiveness, Leta's blade skills, Harper’s flying magic skills, Yumiko’s ability to mend both bodies and spirits..."  Kitty's voice grows husky, a trace of longing evident.  "Together, we'd be unstoppable.  An elite squad of warriors, united by loyalty, driven by a shared vision of justice.  And at the core, a bond of something deeper, something more profound."  She pulls back slightly, her hazel eyes searching John's, her voice taking on a quiet intensity.  "John, if we do this... if we build this team, this family... it would mean everything to me.  To have you by my side, to fight for a cause greater than ourselves.  To show this broken world what true freedom looks like.”  Kitty's voice drops to a whispered plea, her eyes shining with unshed tears.  "Please, John.  Say you'll do this with me.  I know it's a lot, but I believe in us. In what we could achieve together."  She takes a deep, shuddering breath, gathering her courage.  Her fingers tremble slightly as she reaches for his hand, intertwining their fingers.  "I... I love you, John Smith.  I know I'm asking a lot.  I know I'm pushing you into unknown territory.  But I want you to know how much you mean to me.  How much this means to me."  Kitty moves closer, resting her forehead against his.  "You're not just a partner or a teammate.  You're my anchor, my light in this chaotic world.  And if you're willing, I want to build a future with you.  One filled with purpose, with love, with the potential to change the world."  She pulls back slightly, her gaze intense and vulnerable.  "So what do you say, John?  Will you take a leap of faith with me?  Will you help me turn this dream into reality?"

Kitty holds her breath, her heart pounding in her chest as she waits for his response.  Every fiber of her being is focused on this moment, on this choice.  She knows that whatever John decides will shape the course of her future, the future of the Angel Stars... and perhaps the fate of Echo City itself.  In this pivotal instant, Kitty's love for John, her faith in him, and her vision for a brighter tomorrow all converge.  She has laid her heart bare, and now she must trust that John will embrace this path with her, hand in hand, soul to soul.

John's heart radiates love, it swirls and dances within his chest, expanding and expanding.  His voice rides on a particular vibration...

“How attached are you to the name?”

Kitty's eyes widen at John's question, a delighted smile playing on her lips.  She leans back, crossing her arms as she taps a finger against her chin thoughtfully.

"Attached?  Well, let's see... it's catchy, it's got a nice ring to it.  But... I suppose I'm not married to it.  Why, do you have something else in mind?"  She tilts her head, studying him curiously, intrigued by where his mind might be heading.  "Actually, now that I think about it, Angel Stars feels a bit... I don't know, restrictive?  Like it's missing something."  Kitty uncrosses her arms, reaching out to nudge John playfully.  "C'mon, out with it.  What's that brilliant mind of yours cooking up? I can practically see the gears turning in there."  She settles back, getting comfortable as she prepares to brainstorm.  "Okay, shoot.  Let's hear your ideas.  And remember, in this partnership, there's no such thing as a bad suggestion.  We'll workshop it together until we find something perfect."  Her eyes gleam with anticipation, smile widening in encouragement.  She knows that whatever name they land on, it will be a reflection of their shared vision, their united purpose.  And that makes it all the more meaningful.

In this moment, as they stand on the precipice of something great, Kitty's heart swells with love and excitement. She can feel the energy crackling between them, the potential for something extraordinary simmering just beneath the surface. And she knows, without a doubt, that whatever challenges lie ahead, they will face them together. As partners, as lovers, as the fearsome leaders of a mercenary squad poised to reshape the very fabric of Echo City.

“Freedom Angels.  Freedom to live, move... to love... as divinely as you are.  Free to set the wrong things right.”

Kitty's breath catches in her throat at John's words, her heart skipping a beat. Tears of joy well up in her eyes, and she surges forward, wrapping her arms around him in a fierce embrace.

"Freedom Angels," she whispers, savoring the sound, the meaning, the perfect symmetry of it all. "Oh, John... it's beautiful.  It's us."

She pulls back enough to cup his face in her hands, her gaze locked with his.

"Freedom to live, to move, to love... as divinely as I am.  As we are."  Kitty's voice breaks on the last words, overcome with emotion.  "And to set the wrong things right.  Oh, John, it's like you've reached into my soul and plucked the words straight from my heart."

Overwhelmed, Kitty buries her face in the crook of his neck, her shoulders shaking with suppressed sobs.  She clings to him, as if he's the only solid thing in a world turned liquid by her emotions.

"I love it," she manages to gasp out between breaths.  "I love you.  Thank you for seeing me, for understanding me in a way no one else ever has."  After a long moment, Kitty finally pulls back, wiping at her eyes with slightly shaky hands.  "Okay, I think I'm good.  Just... wow."  She laughs softly, a watery sound that bubbles up from her chest.  "You've rendered me speechless, Mr. Smith.  And that's no easy feat."  She takes a deep, steadying breath, her gaze never leaving his. "Freedom Angels.  It's perfect.  It's us.  And together... we're going to set this world on fire."

Kitty's smile is radiant, her eyes sparkling with a mix of love, determination, and the thrill of the adventure to come.  "So, what do you say, my love?  Shall we go make some history?"

She holds out her hand to him, offering a silent invitation. This is the moment they've been building towards – the birth of the Freedom Angels

John whoops and hoops and hollers with joy and love.

“Yes!  Yes!  Yes!  I love you so much Kitty!  Thank you, thank you, you did great!!”

Kitty's face lights up with pure, unbridled joy at John's enthusiastic response.  She clasps his outstretched hand, giving it a firm shake before tugging him closer, enveloping him in another bone-crushing hug.

"Yes!  Yes!  YES!" she cheers, her voice ringing with elation.  "Oh John, this is it.  This is everything I dreamed of and more.  I'm so overwhelmed,  I'm so happy..."  She trails off, burying her face in his chest, her body trembling with emotion.  Kitty takes a shaky breath, trying to calm herself so she can speak coherently.  "I love you too, John.  So much.  More than I ever thought possible."  She pulls back, cupping his face in her hands, her gaze intense and filled with adoration.  "Thank you for believing in me, for trusting me, for being the incredible man you are.  You're my rock, my guiding light.  With you by my side, I feel like I can take on the world."

Kitty leans in, pressing a quick, playful kiss to the corner of his mouth.

"But enough of the mushy stuff. We've got work to do, my love.  A squad to build, a legend to forge."  She releases him, stepping back and spreading her arms wide, her voice rising with excitement.  "Freedom Angels, assemble!  Our journey begins now.  And I, for one, couldn't be more thrilled to have you leading the charge, my dear Commander."

Kitty's heart soars, buoyed by the weight of John's love and the promise of the future they'll build together.  Hand in hand, heart to heart, they'll take on the challenges ahead – united, unstoppable, and utterly in love.
